TERMiTE is an advanced, GUI-based terminal emulator with a wealth of additional features to assist in the evolution of host-based uniVerse applications.
With TERMiTE, developers can implement a phased conversion from character-based emulation to true client/server processing. Simple set-up options provide colors, hot-spots, and 3D Windows appearance. A developers toolkit provides a wide range of subroutines that can be called from uniVerse BASIC which add buttons, images, lines, grids, or menus. Event handling and true integration with the desktop is achieved with more sophisticated interfaces, including Visual BASIC. With TERMiTE, original program logic for existing terminals is preserved while also providing a GUI for PC users.
TERMiTE also provides valuable utility programs specifically for the uniVerse environment. These include a graphical interface to "retrieVe" and file transfer utilities that exchange data between uniVerse and popular desktop software tools.
